Notes:

-The Syclone and Typhoon were only made in the early 90's, with only 2998 '91 Sys built, 2500 '92 Tys and 2200 '93 Tys. However, 4 '91 Tys and 3 '92 Sys were produced, which would make the one I have created #4 :). These vehicles were made as completely stock, except for a baer brakes ( http://www.baer.com/ ) upgrade and an aftermarket chip disabling the speed limiter. A manual gearbox is offered as well, unlike the production models.

-I chose these vehicles because I have always loved them for their styling and admired them for their speed. They were both fitted with a turbocharged/ intercooled 4.3L V6 which was recorded to produce 280 horsepower @4200RPM, and 360ft/lbs of torque @3600RPM, allowing them to reach 0-60 from a stand-still in less than 5 seconds, making them the quickest and fastest production trucks ever. You can read more about them at this site. ( http://www.syty.org/faq.html#faq )

-The tuning is as close as we could get to the actual vehicles. The 0-60 times are very close. The 0-100 times may be a tad quick, but it works well with them. With a 4-speed automatic and a 5-speed manual, the top speed of the Sy and Ty is roughly between 150-160. Since I found no exact top speed i decided that this would be a fair number. All the recorded times and speeds were taken from this site. ( http://www.syclone.freeserve.co.uk/performance.htm )

-All the textures were found online, except for the bottom, which was taken from a model Sy. The sounds are 100% accurate, except for the horn which is a modified Grand Prix horn, as they were recorded from various .mpg movies of Sys and Tys from this site. ( http://www.sportmachines.com/media/videos.html ) The selection sounds of thunder were plucked from Flight Simulator 2000 and mixed in with actual Syclone and Typhoon sounds.

-The Ty handles very well in dry conditions, with slight sway at higher speeds, which is expected for an SUV. The Sy, being about 110lbs lighter, handles excellent also in dry conditions, with very little sway and superb control. Be warned, these are not offroad vehicles, as you will find out :). They were both tested at varied spots on the realism slider and in all weather conditions. They can be somewhat tricky to control in inclement weather as well, as you will also experience. Play with the settings depending on your skill and control device. Personally, I prefer 25-30% realism using a trackball, but adjust to your liking :).

-***UPDATE*** Typhoon now has no handling problems at high speeds, thanks to Cuda ;).

Thanks to:

-Rocket, Paul, Cuda, for all their help. Thanks to the "BOX boys" for the help beta and multiplayer testing. It was a blast :).
-TNP_Insane for once again tuning for me. You saved me many headaches :). If you would like him to tune a car for you, just drop him a line via email.

What's Next?

Lots of things planned. Among them are a special edition Grand Prix Pace Car, a K-9 patrol version blazer based on the typhoon, and perhaps an s-10 4x4 based on the syclone to tear up BarraCuda's OffRoad Madness :).
